Song Beats: Drumming Along with Your Favorite Songs
Song Beats is a new application from Yamaha that allows you to play the drums along with your favorite songs. Designed for iPhone and iPod touch, this app is a fabulous drum performance support tool.
The app provides visual cues to guide your drumming, showing you which drums to hit and when to hit them while playing along with your favorite songs. The glowing rings make it easy to see which drums to hit, and you simply hit the corresponding drum when the glowing ring reaches the edge of the drum.
In addition to playing along with existing songs, Song Beats allows you to create custom accompaniments for drums, putting your drumming at the center of the band. You can also use any Yamaha MIDI song that you already own by using iTunes File Sharing.
With Song Beats, you can improve your drumming skills through the skill test feature, which evaluates your drumming skills and provides a three-level result for each drum. You can also connect to the Yamaha electronic drum DTX series for playback of song data and to use the skill test feature. Please note that connecting to a drum kit requires i-UX1, and certain Apple devices may require an Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter.
The app also offers features like mixing drums, changing the tempo of songs, and A-B looping to repeat and practice difficult beats. The library screen provides 10 built-in songs and 10 drum patterns, each with a reference video of the drum performance. You can also load your own Yamaha MIDI songs into the app using iTunes File Sharing.
